Welcome!
Here are a few tidbits that were suggested that I post to my first blog entry.
Before you begin reading, I first want to apologize if I ever happen to come off a "preachy". Please understand that I am only sharing my personal thoughts. It is not my intention to pass judgment on anyone. However, if I cause you to stop and think about the topics I mention, I cannot say that I would be disappointed.
I love to explore. One time when I was little (about 2 years old) I managed to escape from our family's house, despite the doors being blocked to prevent my wandering off. I walked down the hillside where we lived to a busy street below. A good Samaritan found me and brought me home, thanks to the ID tag my parents had wisely attached to me. (I apparently had made similar "exploration" attempts prior to this event).
One day I hope to travel to Australia, New Zealand, and the South Seas Islands. (I have already traveled to Norway, England, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, several Caribbean Islands, and most of the 50 U.S. states, including Alaska and Hawaii.)
One book I would never tire of reading is The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn.
One of my best strategies for fueling my creativity is traveling.
If I could add one hour to my day, I would spend it in reading the Bible and/or doing something to contribute to my relationship with God.
One thing I hope to gain from this course (Backward Design, Guided Inquiry and Technology Integration) is to become comfortable with the processes, so that I can feel confident using them and sharing them with others.
One thing that you really need to know about me is that I love Jesus.
One thing I know for sure is that although there is no way to "prove" that there is a Heaven, I have faith that it does exist and that anyone who trusts that Jesus died for us and welcomes Him into his/her life, is welcome there. ( I respect others' spiritual beliefs but I stand firm in mine).
One of my all-time favorite quotes is, "Read a book and have fun!" My 6th grade friend, Shane, and I sort of adopted it as our slogan back in the day. I'm not sure where it originated....maybe from us?!
Well, I'm off to go on a 10K run. Hopefully enough snow has melted that I can find traction on the roads.
